Busy, Busy, We're in a Tizzy (???)

WOW!! Today we had a SUPER busy day...

All of these pictures are going to seem a little random. I had planned on just posting these first ones, of the house and church, but on our way home we got caught in some "Traditional (Party) Traffic".

Anyways, we went to Home Depot this morning and some other places downtown and bought 2 toilets, a gas tank, a hot water heater, a bathroom cabinet, copper tubing, cement, and "cacahuatillo". (Something for the floor.)

A GINORMOUS thank you to Pastor Schumacher and the church in Racine, Wisconsin for helping us buy all of these things!

We got to the church, unloaded all the stuff, then started moving the block in front of the church to get it out of the way so the iron guys can put our gate in on Monday.

Then, on our way home, we have to go right smack thru the middle of town. Since the beginning of this month, Mexico has been celebrating the "Virgen de los Remedios". Virgin of the Remedies?? I don't know...but they were doing some pretty weird stuff in front of the big church on the hill. This celebration will end on September 16th, Mexico's Independence Day.

Nicole and I walked down the street to buy some nieve and the closer we got to downtown, the louder the beating of a bass drum got. We were thinking "what IS that?" So we got to the nieve stand and I look across the street up on this hill and there were a bunch of men dressed up as Aztec Indians, chanting, dancing, beating drums, and yelling. So I told Nicole, "Order my mango nieve so I can go get some pictures of this." So I ran across the street to get a better look. There was caution tape all around the hill, so I couldn't get too close (that's why there's yellow stripes thru the pics--haha.)

So I'm watching (a little freaked out) when this lady walks up with a baby in her arms, starts digging thru her purse, pulls out some money and gives it to the wacko Indian dancing around. (The whole time I'm thinking ...somethin' somebody..."from the Taka tribe" then, "Well, I'm Connie--from the Kendall tribe! Aaaaah!" from Odyssey. Haha!) I wanted to get closer...but I was scared that they would...I don't know...grab me, start beating their chests and do the Tarzan yell?

Anyways, so the one main guy dancing around grabs this chalice type thing with smoke billowing out the top of it and starts dancing around the baby!! And the baby is just looking at him like he is out of his head. (Smart kid.)

Nicole and I. (Me-left, Nicole-right).

Israel trying to see what is wrong with this drain.

Armando on the other side measuring to see if the drain is level.
This is the bathroom on the side of the house that was already there.

Yay! We got the gas tank! We bought it from a family in Elder Wakefield's church. 300 liters...if you care. :)
(Austin and I)
This truck delivered the cacahatillo for the bathroom floors.

This is the pile we started with. It's a little smaller now. Lol. Well, we tried!

How about I be the photographer and YOU carry the blocks?

...Ok, maybe not...
We moved twice this amount. Of COURSE the day we would be working, ALL of us girls wore black. We have great luck.

Oh my goodness! THIS was funny. So they pull the tank out of the back of the van, then they all just stand back and stare at it, laughing for a minute. "Do we REALLY have to carry this up those stairs?"

...Yep, you do...
Bro. Wakefield says, "Good job, guys!"

Little Israel came with his dad to work.

My dad tried to copy how Armando carried the cement bag on his head. He says it made his ears ring. But it's better than carrying it on his shoulder because that makes him look like Ranger when he is scratching his ear. Kinda like a smile, but not. HA!
(Each bag weighs 110.23 pounds exactly!)

In town: Here's that Sebu that Austin rode a while back. It is HUMONGOUS!! (See The Gospel According to Austin on the right side of this blog.)

The city downtown was packed out!! People selling EVERYTHING. Rabbits, hamsters, hot chocolate, candy, peanuts, cowboy hats, ice cream, nick nacks, dog leashes, axes...?
...That old cheese grater I found in Grandma's attic...

This is the entrance to the tunnels in the pyramid. (The pyramid with the church on top.)

Again...decor for the "Virgin"

Ok, these are the Indians. The guy with the big head's leg/upper area was a little...lacking in the clothing department. See the guy next to him, beating the drum? He was the most scary lookin' thang.

Ok, everybody make an "O" out of your mouth, yell, then pat your mouth. How do you spell that? WA WA WA WA WA!! That's what they were doing.
