Visitors from Uriangato

A couple of weeks ago the Voans came and visited us here in Puebla. The Voans are missionaries in Uriangato, Guanajuato. In case you were wondering, that is here in Mexico - lol! A young lady from Tulsa came with them as well and I was pretty happy about that! I love having visitors! It is especially rare for them to be of around my age.
The reason for the Voan's visit was for an organizational meeting having to do with the pastors of all the churches. After the meeting we went to lunch.

Brooklyn ended up staying with me and we got to hang out and chat and even went touristing around the city before church Sunday morning. We had such a good time!
The once never-fail breakfast option of a fruit platter actually failed me.
We ordered this but it ended up tasting really off.

We felt really guilty leaving a half-eaten fruit platter but...our taste buds wouldn't accept any more of it.

After breakfast we observed the ladies exercise class in front of the cathedral. They put on quite a show!

In front of the cathedral....
Nothing as refreshing was walking in the cool morning breeze and sunshine!

We then headed over to Elder and Sis. Wakefield's church where Bro. Voan was to be preaching. I didn't get any pictures except for this one!
Sis. Gloria seeking the Holy Ghost.

After the morning service, Bro. Voan came and preached for our church on the other side of town.

I didn't get any pictures of Sis. Voan, but she came as well and as always was a riot! Bro. and Sis. Voan got to telling stories on each other and had us rolling laughing. They are a hoot!!!!
What a great weekend!

House Tour!

When I first moved into my house this is what it looked like. It was very bare. It came with a kitchen sink, and a bathroom sink - that was it. No closets, cupboards, shelves, or light fixtures.
This was what the kitchen looked like -
Orange, orange everywhere!

This was the living room -
Nicole and I kind of split the house in half since the bedrooms were so tiny and wouldn't fit our dressers in them. Hers was on one end and mine was on the other.
Nicole moved out after a couple months LOL. She moved on to bigger and better things, as in marriage and family! And her own big-O house!
Now it is just me, but I can't even express how much I love my little house and being on my own!
ANYways - it's been my little project and little by little it has become a home. A few weeks ago I bought kitchen cabinets. My dad and Valentin sanded, painted, and installed them. I am so pleased with how they turned out!

I am going to get the bottom cupboard/counter part, but it has to be custom-made since my kitchen is soooo tiny! For now, this little table works just fine!

And that's my house! It is my constant project.

Some pictures of the cabinet process...
Picking out the cabinets...
Sealing the cabinets...
Hanging the cabinets...
Putting the doors back on the cabinets...
It sure is nice having a handy dad! He knows how to do everything!

I'm Inspired

Hi guys! I've been on a cooking and baking kick lately which is why I didn't blog last week. I've been working on a "house renovation" this past month and I think that's what got me all inspired. It's much more fun working in my kitchen now...since it actually FEELS like a kitchen! I will show before and after pictures soon and you all will see exactly what I mean by that. I am enjoying this burst of inspiration, thus the blog's bit of neglect.

In other news -

This has caused me no end of giggles during school. Olive enjoys being messed with. We are in our last couple of weeks and I am anxious for summer vacation to start! This has helped the time pass.
