There's a Killer On the Loose

Sunday morning our assistant pastor's wife brought us over a little present. She had been promising this for a few months now, but then stopped mentioning it for a while. We figured she had forgotten about it and I have to admit, we weren't too broken hearted. But apparently she remembered yesterday because I walked outside and she was coming up the stairs and in her arms was...a baby duck. Like this:
Of course it was so stinkin' adorable...what are we going to say? "Sorry, but you'll have to take this back to the market." Actually, that is what Bro. Dad told her in a little bit nicer words. I guess she thought he was joking because the duck stayed. So it tweeted (or what is the noises baby ducks make? They don't quack...) allll day before church, then allll night after church. His reward was he got to sleep outside.
All of Sunday I was too busy to take a picture of it. I had planned on doing it today, in the daylight, outside. Well, this morning we pull out a big bowl of water put the duck in it, and ooooh, it was so cute! He swam around and washed his beak. The whole time we're watching the duck, Bro. Dad is saying, "How can we get rid of this thing?"
I went downstairs to get my camera in the church and when I came up the dogs were inside. Long story short...
Bro. Dad had to pry precious little Beau's mouth open and Nicole had to reach in and pull the duck out of Beau's throat by its tail feathers. Yes, throat. He was apparently going to swallow the thing whole.
Needless to say, the little guy is now in ducky heaven. Austin is a little traumatized by the whole ordeal, as he had a front row seat. I went outside earlier and was petting Beau. Austin looked down his nose at me, and said (in a totally condescending voice), "I CAN'T believe you're petting him." Like I'm some kind of traitor. Well, excuse me, honey child.
After Beau had his fun, he continued sniffing around the kitchen like he was some kind of angel dog.
Like I said...I didn't get any pictures. This is the only picture I got that relates to the duck. He had left us a little gift in his swimming water and it was there even after little Duck had got thrown in the dumpster...

The culprit, moments after his almost-meal.
See? Living in Mexico is just so exhilarating!

I probably shouldn't laugh but I am! I grew up with an abundance of animals (my mom was always bringing something home) so I've seen my share of murderers!

To BETHANY,
Dear, Aunt Beth,
Too bad about the little yellow cotton ball!! Hey, I was serious about my question of you starting college. Have you started some classes online? I was talking to Esther Thomas from the Marysville, CA church and she said her dad, Bro. Royer used to have the same idea about women and college, but she has two months left, and she will be a full fledged nurse! It has been long and hard but for her, SO worth it. Maybe you could just start with the basics. English, a basic math, or something. Even one class at a time and it will get you started. I hope you can. I know you are NOT interested in getting married right now, so along with your church duties, you could do a class or two. It would only add to you being a better Sunday School teacher. Keep asking your parents to let you start. Its SO important!!! Aubrey has done a great job of juggling it all. She works and goes to college, and sings in church and helps in Sunday School. KEEP THAT DREAM FOR YOURSELF!! ALL your family here in Georgia support you 100%. We love you! Love, Aunt Darlene~~

HAHAHA!! No, its not that my dad doesn't think women should go to college! My dad said if I want to go to college, then he wants me to go to college too. It's not that.
Things have just gotten super busy around here, but an AWESOME, amazing, totally fulfilling kind of busy, to where I'm not out-of-my-head bored like I was before, always 'pining away' for the US. Things are SO exciting here, college occupies about 30 seconds of my thoughts each day.
I'm still planning on doing college online, but we are going to be traveling next month for about 3 months and I know it would be hard to do college in the car (between car sickness and on and off internet). So yep...
HEY! You forgot to add 'planning a wedding' to Aubrey's list of to do's. I don't know how she does it...
:))
I love you too!

Ok...I deleted that last comment! HA! Totally Embarrassinggggg!! (About getting married...You made me sound like I was some kind of Amish girl, or something-ayayay!!)
Anyways, about marrying...
My mom says I'm so picky, I'll just live with my birds and a bunch of other animals for the rest of my life.
And am I happy? I am SO happy, content, I have that feeling of being RIGHT where God wants me to be. There are no words to describe the...peace...or content...(I don't know) feeling of knowing I'm in God's will. It's hard to explain...maybe hard to understand too.
Hey, about Aubrey's wedding and crying...
I dream about her getting married all the time and I BAWL MY EYES OUT!! So...I've shed my share of tears over this whole thing. (In dreamland, at least.) WAAAA!
Love you--

You are THEE funniest person ALIVE! I guess you will be at the wedding in spirit! I am SURE I will cry, but you KNOW how my face gets, and then they will taking a TON pictures! GROSS! Anyway! About being picky! That is OK!! You will probably marry someone who loves birds and other animals. It would be a perfect match! Just wait until he comes along, in God's time. He needs to be breathing, in church, and have a good job. There's no need to be poor! HA! Anyway! I'm glad you feel you are in God's will. And where you're supposed to be. That means ALL the world to me. It will help me not harass so much!! SO! What do you do each day? "The life and times of Bethany Wakefield"......
Maybe you should write a book. You could write a survival guide for missionary kids! Things to do and NOT do. Like walking into complete strangers WEDDINGS! I was cracking up at that one! I hope no one just shows up at Aubrey's wedding. Mike will be mad. Its already costing him an arm and a leg for the ones we've invited! Well, you are TOO kind to take the time to write. OH! Grama called yesterday and they have decided they ARE moving to Calif! They hope to be on their way by June 2010! Mike wants to get in one of their suitcases and GO WITH THEM! We'll see... Well, I will spare you ANOTHER chapter! I love you BUNCHES (as I tell Jarred), and I hope you're keeping yourself busy!
Love you! Aunt Darlene~~
