Austin's View

Austin is in the kitchen doing his school work. He is learning about communication and sound.
Tone, high pitch, low pitch, when to talk, when to be quiet.
I just heard this...

Dad: "So Austin, give me an example of when you should use a loud voice."
Austin- "In church."
Dad: "...Okay...Well then when should you use your quiet voice?"
Austin: "In a Catholic church."

Piñata Fight

Last night the kids came over for our second choir practice. (It went really well!)
After choir practice, we decided that we should make piñatas for Mexico's Independence Day, which is this next week. So here we are, making piñatas.

We started out with good intentions...and clean faces...

...and we ended up just having a good ole goo fight.
(The glue used in making the piñatas is flour and water).

I got completely slimed...

And so did everyone else. :)

Gross!

After we cleaned up the disaster we had made, we stood around until 11pm talking, laughing, and scratching the now dried gunk off of our faces and hair. It was a little painful and we all looked super scary at the end, but hey...we had fun so who cares :)

Feliz Cumpleaños, Hermano Mario!!

Today was Elder Wakefield's assistant pastor's birthday. Yesterday we went over to their house and partied!
We always have a blast when we get together...this time was no different.
We ate dinner, ate birthday cake, smashed Hno. Mario's face into the cake, he opened his presents, then we played pictionary...and that turned into charades with lots of laughs. I love this game!!

Notice the people all around Brother Mario as he is about to take a bite out of his cake.
Also, see the hand resting on the table? Four people against poor Brother Mario.
He definitely was tasting cake after we got done with him :)

Tabernaculo de Victoria Choir

A few months back I asked my kids if they would like to start singing in church. This was right after many of them had just gotten the Holy Ghost. They all said they would be too embarrassed to get up in front of the whole church. Well, last week a few of the kids came to me and said they wanted to get a group together.
I was excited to hear this!! I am for anything that gets them more involved with church.
So Saturday night we had our first choir practice. I was a little worried about how we would sound. Our experience in the years we've been down here is that the people LOVE to sing, but they tend to hurt your ears :) I say this with much love. :)
Here I am teaching the kids the song...

We had 10 kids come for our first practice!

Eduardo, my little drummer boy.

Practicing...

Then afterwards we sat around for a little bit visiting and eating brownies.

Here we are on Sunday...this is Tabernaculo de Victoria's orchestra. :)

And here we are singing.
They did wonderful! They worshiped, worshiped, worshiped and the presence of God fell. It was so sweet to see the kids with their hands raised, singing to God and speaking in tongues.
So from now on, practice is on Saturday at 7pm...just in case anyone wants to join us!

Fancy Schmancy!

We got the front part of our house tiled about a month ago, but I just now finally took a picture of the finished product. :) So here is a little summary of how it all went...

Here are the guys, delivering the tile

Tile, baseboards, etc.

This is our living room before...

This was all made possible by Pastor Frank from Mesa, AZ. Thank you for your sacrificial giving!

Nicole, Bethany, and Cassia posing for our CD cover :P

I love you, you love me :)

Cassia, Mannie, and Beth... hubba hubba :))

This was the only water that Cassia felt safe drinking... rain! haha

Hahahaha!

Krispy Kreme! Mmm!

Ooh we were SO tired... so Cassia fell asleep on my lap, and I tried to sleep too... but it didn't really work out because I don't know what exactly was to blame, whether it was the bus driver, the brakes, or the traffic around us, but my head kept slamming into the seat in front of us! So sleep was kind of impossible for me... Haha :P

We have had a lot of fun being crazy with Cassia :) Yesterday we went downtown and walked around all day, I think we walked 50 miles. We had a good time though!
