I Love That Place!

This morning Lolita and I went to the market.
It looks like a dog got a hold of this chicken. Or he had a bad night.
"Hey, little chicken, did you know that one day, you would be heated in a crock pot?"

This is where we buy our beef.
I'm sure this sounds so weird, but I love this place. It's so much more interesting than just going into the grocery store and buying meat that is already in plastic. The stuff that we bought today had just been freshly killed. Yes, gross, but hey. It is what it is. We eat animals that just yesterday, they were mooing and running around the yard.

On the counter was this huge chunk of meat.
Looks tasty, no?

Under its ribs...
Its little liver or something.
Here is a bull that had just been brought in all skinned and was hung up.

Veggies
Canned and dry goods "department"

Little fishy fishies. They don't look like very happy campers.

Chorizo.
We actually do buy this and eat it. I'll admit it looks disgusting, but it sure is tasty!

I have wanted to buy one of these pig heads for the longest time, but my mother refuses to let me. She wants to know what we would do with it. DUH! Hang it in the living room! It could be our prize mounted catch. And when it starts decomposing, we could just throw it away. No biggie, right?
(Maybe we could rent one for a couple hours on my birthday. I invite all of you!)
The people here chop up the pig head and put it in pozole (soup).

One time, my dad and I sat down to eat some tacos. I wasn't that hungry, but I saw a stack of taquitos that looked appetizing. So I ordered one, but when I bit into it, it just tasted fishy.
And the meat was green.
I assumed they would be made of beef or chicken, but no. It was pig brain.
*Gasp!* "You don't like cesos?? But it's a delicacy!!"
Well honey child, you can have it. Gag.

This Really Happened

At church tonight:

If you have it say, "Amen!"

If you don't care say, "Amen!"

Ranch, Vanilla, & KFC

A glimpse into a dining experience in the Wakefield household:

(Beth and I had been disputing the importance of  Heinz ketchup in relation to life.... or something equally important.)

Finally it culminated to this:

...............................

Bethany: "You want ranch on your head?!!"

.....................

Nicole: "I DARE you!!"

........

Beth likes dares.

Hmm... now for the explanation of the next picture you are about to see...
Okay so a while back Pastor Daddy and Sister Mother, along with Bro. and Sis. Assistant Pastors were having a counseling session with one of the saints.
That left us kids to fend for ourselves for a while :D
Me, Beth, and Javier ended up going upstairs to hang out... Somehow we got into doing dares and other dumb things involving various foods in our refrigerator and pantry. It got funny :)

Here's an excerpt of a conversation that night:

Nicole (after perusing all of the items in our pantry): "Heyyyyy Javier!!! Have you ever tried vanilla??"

Javier: "Noo...."

Nicole: "It's really good!" (....did I really say that? Yeah... I did... hahaa)
"Here I'll pour a little in two cups and we'll drink it at the same time, okay?" <--- I had to do that (also drink it) because of the fact that Javier no longer trusts me after the one time, oh so long ago, that I spiked his drink with vinegar :D Unfortunately there is no picture of that :))
Javier with his little cup of vanilla extract.... and me... with my little cup of "vanilla extract" (water). ;P
Bottoms up!....

Nicole: "Mmm, it's sweet, huh?"

Javier: "Nooooo, no it's NOT sweet."

Okay last couple of pictures before I say good night.

That same night Beth and Javier got revenge...
I made myself a cup of tea, then realized I had to go get something from my room. I unwisely left my tea on the counter in the kitchen...
When I came back, I picked up my drink and happened to look inside my cup. It was kinda strange looking. Like foamy and white on top... which was strange because when I had left it it was a nice creamy brown... and non-foamy... I of course was suspicious. So I looked up at the both of them, and no surprise, they both had these guilty smirks on their faces. I asked them what in the world they had done to my drink, and since they were caught, they "fessed up". (Or so I thought) Bethany immediately "confessed" that she had just put a lot of sugar in my drink... Yeaaaaah riiiiiight...... As if I would fall for that......
Well I did. I figured, okay I caught them and they knew they were busted so they confessed. I also figured that it wouldn't hurt to try the "over-sweetened" tea.
Well.
It sure was "over-something"! But not with sugar.
Turns out they had dumped who knows how much salt into my tea...
*** UPDATE: BETHANY NOW TELLS ME IT WAS BAKING SODA! ***
Very yummy let me tell you.

Oh market honey, how I love thee :)

Theeen.... Counseling session over... so we all headed to KFC for more fun!
Here is Beth.
Okay class, if you could all turn your eyes to Bethany's cup of soda...
See that bobbing blue thing?
That is the resultado of a game invented by some smart person at our table.
I think it would be called "try-to-toss-the-pepsi-cap-into-your-neighbors-cup-of-soda-without-them-noticing-and-by-doing-so-make-them-sick-with-the-thought-of-how-many-cups-has-this-cap-been-in-and-how-many-fingers-have-touched-it. Yeah well that's MY name for it... Lol.

 "Bethany: Through a Bottle"

Okay! That's all for now, so I'm off to bed!

...Till next time....
(that means like in a month or 2 haha)

G'nite
 :)

Bad, Bad Blog Site

WHY did my post from yesterday get deleted? I googled it, and apparently I'm not the only one that this happened to. And it sho 'nuff wasn't my fault. I mean, I haven't even been on here since my last post. Oh, and I guess some people have actually had their whole entire actual blog sites deleted. If that happens to me...I think I would just crawl in a cave somewhere and die. Maybe I should move this party on over to Wordpress...
I am thinking about it. Any comments on this idea? Pros, cons?
Anyone want to know what I've been doing lately?
I can't say I've been swimming, as I can practically touch bottom in this thing. ;)
It's just a kiddie blow-up pool, but I love to jump in, get freezing cold, then warm up in the sun.

Also, I've been cooking. I have recently found out that I love to cook!
Now I just need a really cute apron like THIS:

I saw this little guy downtown the other day. I thought of Whit when I saw him.
Taco selling Whit, of course. Aww, so cute.

And lastly, look at these gorgeous flowers we got my mom for Mother's Day!

**Update** My last post just got restored. Woo hoo!
Too bad I already made a Wordpress account, huh? :))

Bedtime Prayers With Austin

A few minutes ago, I put Austin to bed. This is how his bedtime prayer went:
"God, help me to have good dreams. And help Bethy to not be a brat. Help mom to get better, and help Nicole to forgive me." After this last petition he started snickering to himself, then stopped abruptly. "...Sorry, God."

Apparently when Nicole came out of her room, Austin was standing there armed and ready. He smacked her in the face with a rag. I came upon him dancing and shrieking in the kitchen and had to 'calm' him down. Hence the "help Bethy not to be a brat" part of his prayer. :D

Twenty six days until Nicole and I fly into L.A.
I'm excited. Very. :))

Root beer...Root beer floats
Painted lines in the roads
Organized traffic
Clean streets
Fresh, pleasant-smelling air
English
Caramel apples
Fireworks on the 4th of July
Church...in English

I haven't been in the U.S. for the 4th of July about 4 years. I'm looking forward to a dazzling firework show!
Also, to be able to go to church and not have any kind of responsibility. No teaching or doing the music. No stress.
Does that sound selfish? I'm just looking forward to sitting in the audience and singing with everyone else and listening to Pastor White preach for a couple weeks. And whoever else will be preaching. Haha :)

There's this place in Santa Clarita with thee most fabulous caramel apples.
This is the apple I got last time!

And of course, I'm looking forward to Pacific Coast Camp in Ventura, CA.
If you aren't planning on going, you should!
Any effort you make to be able to go will be absolutely worth it.
Elder Lambeth is preaching. Wow, it's going to be awesome.
Plus, it's the one place where I get to see everyone I could possibly want to see. All in one place.

Oh, and Dad's Donuts in Burbank. Yum.
Anyone noticing a trend? Almost everything I miss is food.
I'm going to have to fly back here on a stretcher. :))

Note to Self: "Don't Make That Face!"

First bit of news: We have a acquired a new pet. A kitten. She is adorable, but of course all baby things are. Puppies, chicks, piglets...babies, for that matter. But all of those things grow up.  Kittens are adorable. Cats? Not so much. Babies too. Adults...? Ahem.
Anyways, she is pretty smart. Today she climbed in the office trash can and went to the bathroom.

Austin likes to pick her up by the skin of her neck because "that's how her mom carried her".
What is she saying....?
"You're...choking...meee."

This is the neighborhood bum. He's a pretty funny feller. A little obnoxious, likes to talk, but overall funny.
He came to a service last weekend. Actually he came to the marriage service. When Bro. King started talking about Adam and Eve, "Pakatelas" walked out because he "already knew everything about them". :D
On Sunday he rang our doorbell. He said he wanted to talk to la senorita that plays the "organ" so I went down to talk to him. He wanted to know what time church started. We probably talked for about 20 minutes. In the middle of the conversation, he abruptly stopped talking and told me, "Don't cut your eyebrows." I was like...Ummm, I don't...thank you though, for the beauty tip...haha.
He is a little hard to understand (especially when he tries to talk in English). I guess I was concentrating too hard because said, "Don't make that face. You'll get wrinkles."
AUUUGH!
Then to top it all off, when he was saying goodbye, he stuck his fist out towards me, so I bumped my fist with his. Sneaky old man. He grabbed my fingers, bowed forward, and kissed the back of my hand!
I was thinking "Ohhhh Lord..." Talk about a drama king! He was laying it on thick. :D
Every time I talk to him he asks me if the previous pastor is still here. Because if he IS, he is NOT coming!
He did come to church on Sunday, but unfortunately, our usher kicked him out.
Oops.
We were having a good service, a bunch of people were up front praying when he came in. I guess the usher thought he was going to make a scene so he told him to leave. But before Pakatelas left, he turned around and shouted to the whole church, "I JUST WANTED TO VISIT A WHILE!" and then stomped out.
Poor guy. Hopefully a visit will "make it all better".
Till next time......
Don't make any ugly faces!

The Busiest Dept. in the Hospital:

Today I went with El Pastor to the hospital to pray for somebody.
We thought this was funny:
Plan the funeral right there at the hospital. What hope. :P

A few months ago, my grampa had thousands of flyers made with my picture on them.
(Without my permission..ha!)
Now, if you've ever seen yourself in a picture shouting, crying, and praying, then you know how I feel.
It feels great, but it sho 'nuff doesn't look too pretty.
The caption should read, "Come to our church and leave looking like you're on crack."

Desafortunadamente, it has been passed out all over the south side of Puebla.
"Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe...."
